HOWE CONFIRMED AS NEWCASTLE UNITED MANAGER

Newcastle United have ended their search for a manager after ex-Bournemouth man Eddie Howe was confirmed as the new recipient of the Magpies dugout on Monday. Howe was named the Newcastle United manager on Monday.

It had been public knowledge that 43-year-old Howe would be the next Newcastle United manager for the better part of the last one week, but official confirmation didn’t come until Monday. Howe has penned a three-year deal as the new Magpies boss until the summer of 2024.

Howe is the maiden managerial appointment made by the Saudi-led consortium at Newcastle United. The consortium took control of the Magpies in a £300m deal last month.

Steve Bruce started this season as the Newcastle United manager before he was sacked by the new owners last month on the back of the home defeat to North London club Tottenham Hotspur. The Magpies were beaten 3-2 by Spurs in what was the 1,000^th game for Bruce as a manager. Bruce lost his job at Newcastle United after eight games in the league this season and Graeme Jones was put in interim charge of the team until a full-time appointment was made.

Jones took charge of the Newcastle United squad for the past three Premier League games and he was unable to stop the winless run which is now up to eleven (11) games. Bruce had been winless in the first eight league games this season.

New manager Howe has a lot of work to do to take Newcastle United out of the relegation zone on the Premier League table. The Magpies are the only team without a win in the English top flight this season.Howe takes charge of the Newcastle United squad with the club second bottom on the league table. The Magpies are five points adrift of safety on the Premier League log.
